5 Tips for a Successful Bear Hunt

5 Tips for a Successful Bear Hunt

Fall is one of the best times of the year to hunt bear, not only for their migration patterns, but, also, the weather is perfect to be out in the wilderness: not too hot, and not too cold. As we continue to enjoy this summer season, it’s important to start getting ready for bear hunting in Idaho with Silver Spur Outfitters!

If you plan on going out this fall to bear hunt, there are a couple of tips to keep in mind to make it a successful one.

Bait, or No Bait?

Knowing your bait situation is a top priority. Some people prefer it; others go without it. But it’s worth really mapping this out beforehand, so you know just how and when you’ll use it in your hunt. (Visiting the site once before you hunt is also worthwhile.)

Perfect the StandBear Hunting in Idaho

If you’re an avid hunter, then you know that you’ll be standing for a while. If that’s the case, you’re going to want to make sure in advance that your stand, or how you hide yourself from bears, is as comfortable and convenient as can be. In order to do this, do a few trials runs to ensure that it works smoothly.

Am I Giving Off a Scent?

Try to give off as little smell as possible. Cut out your own body odor and any artificial smells (food, smoke, etc.), and wear clothes that can breathe, so you’re not sweating.

Essentials to Bring

Bear hunting takes a whole lot of patience, so pack knowing that you’ll be there for a while. Comfortable clothes, bug repellent, and a rangefinder are key here.

Get there Early

Early bird catches the worm. Or, in this case, the bear. Getting into your stand as early as you can will allow you to catch bears during their morning feeding hours, and establish your sense of the environment sooner rather than later.

With these tips in mind, you’ll be ready for anything on your hunt. If you’re looking for your next bear hunting spot, just contact Silver Spur Outfitters & Lodge today!
